The origins and domestic history of donkeys
Donkeys have played an essential role in the movement and transportation of humans for thousands of years. They remain an important working animal in many communities throughout the world today. Despite this, little was known about the origin and domestic history of donkeys. Using ancient and modern DNA sequences, we reconstructed the genetic history of donkeys and revealed key insights into their breeding and management by ancient human societies. In this seminar, I will discuss some of the key results from this study.
