About Center for Evolutionary Hologenomics

A new Center of excellence to study how interaction between genes and microbes determine biological evolution. Retelling the story of life through this hologenomic approach. The Center is directed by Professor Tom Gilbert.

"Studying how host genetic variation shapes both which microbes interact with their hosts, and how they affect the host lies at the heart of our hologenomic approach. As such, our approaches are relevant to any research that relates to microbes and their hosts, whether health, biomedicine, animal production or evolutionary biology." Says Professor and Center Director Tom Gilbert. In this video Tom Gilbert introduces Center for Evolutionary Hologenomics and the hologenomic approach. The video was recorded at our first virtual Center Retreat 29.10.2020.

The Danish National Research Foundation has funded the establishment of this new basic research center at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. Center for Evolutionary Hologenomics will study how interaction between genes and microbes determine biological evolution and will be part of the GLOBE Institute.
